English for Business is a Jersey-based language training consultancy specialising in verbal and written communication for international business.  English for Business was founded by Ben and Jim Bennett.

Ben Bennett BA (Hons) Cert TESOL
Managing Director
Ben has worked in education and training for more than 12 years.  He has taught students aged 6 to 66, from a variety of educational and professional backgrounds.  Ben has a degree in English Language and Literature and has over 10 years' experience teaching English, both as a first and second language.  His latest role was as Head of Business Studies at Jersey College for Girls, where he taught A level Business as well as being responsible for the delivery of the Institute of Financial Services Certificate and Diploma in Financial Studies.  Before this, Ben was a director of Black’s Academy, teaching English Language and Literature, Economics, Accounting and Business to A level.  Ben has also worked as a freelance tutor, covering a range of subjects as well as teaching English to non-English speakers of all ages and abilities.

Jim B Bennett FCA Cert TESOL
Director
Jim retired as a partner of Reads & Co Jersey in 1997, in order to concentrate on voluntary projects in the developing world.  He is a member of ICAEW and has over 30 years experience in Jersey and Mauritius in the world of offshore finance. Jim has lectured at the Jersey Business School on courses in accountancy as well as having undertaken training roles in Mauritius, Uganda, Nigeria, the Gambia and Sierra Leone.
Jim also holds the Trinity Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
At English for Business we recognise the importance of professional, clear and courteous communication to improving and maintaining client relationships. 

 Our method:

• We believe in tailoring the learning activities to meet the needs of the individual.  This is why we never work with classes larger than 8.  (Our average class size is 4)
• We deliver a fun and interesting course, chock-full of industry specific vocabulary and idiom that motivates the learner to develop the language skills they need;
• We replicate the language challenges faced by non-native speakers in realistic scenarios, focusing on building your confidence and fluency.
• We provide certification of attainment and feedback about the performance and approach of each learner.
• We can also provide training towards internationally recognised qualifications in Business and Financial English.

We recommend a minimum of 35 hours of contact time for students to make measurable progress.
