Gearing (UK)
The ratio of borrowed finance to equity in a business. High gearing leaves businesses more exposed to risk.

Glocalisation
A combination of the words, and concepts, “globalisation” and “localisation”. For example, HSBC likes to refer to itself as “The world's local bank.”

Going Concern
A company that has the resources needed to continue trading. It has not gone bankrupt.

Golden Hello
A bonus awarded to a new employee upon joining a firm. An incentive to attract top talent.

Golden share
A share which gives its holder the right to veto changes to the company's charter. Often used by governments (UK) to keep some control of privatised companies.
